Milkshake is a style of beer born of the desire of US craft brewers to use new ingredients in brewing. Lactose, a milk sugar that is not fermented by yeast, is used to create a beer that resembles a milkshake in taste and consistency. Lactose creates a soft, enveloping sensation and provides sweetness. Other obvious additions to Milkshake beer are various fruits. Strawberry Milkshake by Keller Holz is a lactose-flavoured beer with ripe Moldovan strawberries.
